Fed: Labor plans concessions for high earners
SYDNEY, Aug 23 AAP - Labor is planning to give work contract concessions to employees
earning more than $100,000.
The move could defuse business anger over the opposition's plans to scrap the federal
government's Australian Workplace agreements, Fairfax reports.
Higher earners would be able to sign individual common law contracts that are exempt
from awards, under the proposal being considered by the federal opposition.
The ALP will argue the change makes them almost as flexible as AWAs.
West Australian MPs and Labor candidates have been pushing frontbenchers to offer sweeteners
to the mining sector after warning the party's policy to remove AWAs could harm Labor's
chances of winning key WA seats.
