NSW: Domestic incident leads police to hydroponics set up

SYDNEY, Aug 4 AAP - Police stumbled on more than they bargained for after being called
out to a domestic incident in Sydney's south-west and discovering a hydroponics set-up
and a cannabis haul worth more than $30,000.

While at the scene of a domestic incident at a residence at Fiveash Street in St Helens
Park yesterday, officers stumbled across a hydroponics set up, 14 cannabis plants and
more than 4 kg of cannabis leaves worth about $30,000.

A 27-year-old man was arrested at the scene and has been charged with assault occasioning
actual bodily harm, cultivating a prohibited plant, possessing a prohibited plant, supplying
cannabis, possessing a prohibited drug and goods in custody.

He has been refused bail to appear in Campbelltown Local Court later today.

The set-up is not thought to be connected to NSW Police Operation Moonlight.

More than 2,000 plants worth $11 million and sophisticated hydroponic set-ups were
seized in raids at modified suburban houses in Blair Athol and nearby Bradbury in south-western
Sydney in May.
