NSW: Iraqi refugee says joyous scenes 'misleading'
An Iraqi refugee says scenes of joyous Baghdad residents welcoming US soldiers are misleading.
RENWAR REBEN (pron: Ree-ben) says the current war has been between two enemies of theIraqi people - SADDAM HUSSEIN'S regime and the US, which backed brutal regimes in Baghdadfor 35 years.
Dr REBEN says Iraqis believe the US was behind the Iran-Iraq war and the first Gulf War.
And he says Iraqis also blame the US for the suffering endured over the last 13 yearsbecause of UN economic sanctions.
Dr REBEN'S made his comments at a news conference in Sydney ahead of this weekend'sPalm Sunday march.
The key aim this year will be to raise funds for the rebuilding of post-war Iraq.
